Guestbook

We had a fantastic four day stay at Daffodil Cottage. We contacted Gill at short notice and she was very flexible, working with us to confirm and organise the booking that day. We arrived to a lovely welcoming fire, from a great log burner that warms up through the house.
The cottage was comfortable and a great place to relax, all the details of what you need in a self-catering place we taken care of.
We walked from the door on lovely walks over Dartmoor and enjoyed both pubs in the village, they were friendly and the drinks and food were great.
We slept really well on the very comfortable (king) bed and checked out smoothly.
Thank you for a fantastic break!

T and S,

Cosy little cottage in a picturesque village. Stayed here for 7 nights in October as part of our wedding anniversary retreat and brought along our reactive dog. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very cosy. As there was only 2 of us we didn't need to use the 2 smaller bedrooms but the larger bedroom at the front of the cottage was very comfy and very relaxing. The wood burner we used approx 3 times during our stay and it heated the place up in minutes. The secret garden was lovely with plenty of seating and a bbq. Unfortunately the weather wasn't quite warm enough for us to use it of an evening but the dog absolutely loved it at all and kept dragging us back there. During our stay we visited many places but our favourites were Dawlish Warren, Meldon Reservoir, Bellever Forest, Tavistock and Plymouth. Gill the host was great in recommending places for us to visit and checked in a few times to remind us she is to hand if needed. Thankfully there was no reason or issues for us to contact her but it was reassuring to know she was a text or phone call away. I imagine the garden would be heaven during warmer weather but it's an excuse to go back and find out.

Lisa Breese,

We had a wonderful stay here. Gill was a friendly, responsive and helpful host. The welcome treats were appreciated having arrived after a camping trip! Everything was clean and well equipped. The kids loved added touches such as toys and games! No dog smells or signs despite it being dog friendly (we don't have them). Great location to explore.
We have two small kids (2 and 6) and enjoyed the beautiful Lydford Gorge, Meldon reservoir, Finch's Foundry, days at the coast (Teignmouth/Dawlish) and The Hidden Valley. Lots of lovely pubs to eat and drink in the surrounding area. We also ate at the Oxenham arms in the village which was excellent.
Only things to note have been mentioned by other guests. Height low in some areas but my 6 foot 2 husband still managed ok, and garden not immediately attached so couldn't 'release' the kids out there on their own!
Thoroughly recommended property, it made for a wonderful end to our summer hols.

Sally,

What a lovely cottage in a great location to explore Dartmoor. Very comfortable and cosy cottage, very well equipped with everything you could wish for. Gill is an amazing host, so thoughtful and helpful. Really went above and beyond to ensure our stay was just right. The “secret garden” is nice and safe, great for reactive dogs. Just note it’s a very short walk from the house so no leaving the door open. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you again Gill, you really are a great host and your cottage is lovely!

Jennifer ,

A fantastic cottage in a brilliant location! Lots of little extras on arrival for human and four legged guests. The cottage is very comfortable (we've stayed in both winter and summer) and have made use of both the log burner and the enclosed garden. There are great walks from the door up onto the moor and Ramsley Common is only a short walk away and great for an off lead walk with lovely sunrise and sunset views. There is so much to see and do on Dartmoor and all within a reasonable driving range. Widecombe in the Moor and Brentor Church were particular highlights for us.

Helen,

This is my second stay in the cottage. The cottage is positioned in a lovely quiet village. Is clean, comfortable and had a lovely welcome package with milk eggs, fudge, popcorn etc which were enjoyable. The beds are comfortable and peaceful and tranquil at night. There is a large garden with seating a short walk from the cottage with a nice grassed area. Would rebook again.

Sian wilson,

We have just returned from a great 6 night stay at Daffodil Cottage. Its obvious that a lot of thought went into furnishing this cottage and everything you need is there for you. Having a nervous dog was not a problem as the village was so quiet, and with so many great places around for walking she slept like a baby every night.
Gill is a great host and gave us a lot of information before we came so that we could enjoy the area fully.
Loved this quiet village and this lovely cottage.

Maggie Gallacher,

Just returned from a long weekend at Daffodil Cottage.
What can I say! Perfect host, perfect cottage, perfect location!
We arrived to an already lit fabulous log fire, lovely basket of goodies, eggs, milk, essentials and even treats for our dogs.
The friendly village is in a beautiful peaceful setting whether you want a relaxing or active holiday with many walks direct from the cottage and a short drive to attractions.
Before and during our stay Gill supplied us with all the information we required to enjoy our time to the full and was so helpful with local knowledge.
The cottage is beautifully presented to a high specification and includes everything and more required for a very comfortable family holiday.
Our dogs were happy and peaceful in the cottage and made daily use of the fabulous secure secret garden, looking gorgeous with daffodils at the moment.
Thank you so much Gill, cant wait to visit again soon as so much more to explore.
Anna & Nina

Anna,

Had the most amazing stay at Daffodil Cottage. It had everything we could need. Lovely secret garden. Gill was amazing at communicating and answered any queries quickly. The area was just beautiful with amazing walks with our dogs on the moors and beaches. Would recommend this place to anyone especially if you want to get off the beaten track. Will certainly be coming back. Thank you Gill.

Carole Nicol,

Our fifth stay and Daffodil Cottage never fails to disappoint, Gill is a lovely host, the cottage is so welcoming as is the log fire. Had a great week yomping over Dartmoor and enjoying great meals at The Three Crowns in Chagford and the Italian in Moretonhampstead. See you soon Gill.

Frances and Pete,

Just home from our second stay at Daffodil Cottage and we can’t wait to go back again! Two teenagers were happy hiking, in the great local pubs and in front of the fabulous, cozy wood burning stove. Everything is super comfortable, great beds and linen, a well-equipped kitchen and generous welcome goodies. We love South Zeal and Gill is the perfect host.

Deborah,

We were fortunate to have 2 lovely stays at Daffodil Cottage whilst visiting UK in Dec/Jan. It is very comfortable and well-equipped. The secret garden was lovely. The welcome basket and fresh eggs were also a much appreciated extra. The location is perfect, right by the moors and plenty to do nearby. I love that it is a dog friendly option and I know our dogs would have loved it if we had been able to bring them over. Gill is lovely, very welcoming and friendly and available if any issues (which we didn't have). We will definitely return in future trips to UK

Helen,

Just back from a second stay at Daffodil Cottage with our three chihuahuas. Gill is a great host, booking is straightforward and all relevant info for the cottage supplied beforehand. The property is in a great location literally within walking distance of the Moor. There are two great pubs a short walk away and everything else is available in Okehampton a 10 min drive. The cottage itself is cosy, adequately equipped and has a delightful 'secret' garden which is well enclosed for the dogs. Overall would highly recommend especially if a quiet break away is what you are after.

Michael Kleinman ,

Just spent the past seven nights at Daffodil Cottage with my family, 2 adults & 3 teenagers.
It is in a great location and ideal for getting to the north and south coast of Devon, as well as the moors for a bit of natural river swimming.
Gill is a great host, keeping you well informed about your booking and is there if you need any help or advice during your stay.
The cottage was very comfortable and the welcome treats were a lovely bonus after a long day traveling.
I would definitely recommend the cottage and would love to stay again, maybe when it’s a bit cooler just so I can light the wood burner.

Alison Langford,

Just got back from a lovely weekend at Daffodil Cottage visiting friends. It's a lovely village and the cottage is the perfect little base. We had lots of cosy evenings and my son loves the twin room with the view over the field in the mornings!

Diane, Drake, and Giles Eadon,

We had a lovely few days at daffodil cottage

So many lovely walks and Gill gave us some fantastic recommendations. The welcome basket was a lovely treat.

We and our dogs had a great time thank you Gill

Faith Costley,

Very comfortable cottage. The standard of everything is excellent. We had excellent nights sleeps in super comfy beds. Fresh eggs were very NICE!

Will highly recommend to friends and hope to be back.

Matt,

Just returned from a lovely couple of days staying here. Lovely cottage and great location couldn’t have asked for anything else apart from the weather. But even with the rain still had a fab time. Definitely added onto my list to return

Caroline Pacheco ,

Just back from a lovely restful week in Daffodil Cottage and couldn’t have asked for a more ideal location or excellent facilities. Gill was the perfect hostess offering information on best walks for us and the dogs, good places for open water swimming (although I didn’t get the chance this time!) and even sourcing a Tick remover for us as the hounds picked up a couple of extra ‘friends’ on their walks!!
Kitchen was well equipped and the beds all super comfy and the little ‘hidden’ garden was a tranquil place to sit and ponder and the dogs to have quick off lead zoomies.
A super little cottage in a quiet little village, what more could we ask for?
Thank you Gill, we will definitely be back. Xx

Maggie Parish,

A delightful cottage on the edge of Dartmoor, in a lovely friendly village. Two fantastic pubs, with access to fantastic walks on the moor.
The cottage was immaculate, with all you need for a comfy stay. I live the very comfy rustic looking beds,
Hill was a fantastic host, texting lots of helpful information. There was also a lively welcome pack with lots to of lovely goodies including dog treats.
The fully enclosed garden is a short walk down an alleyway to the side of the cottage and is fully enclosed. If the weather had been warmer it would have been lovely to sit in it and enjoy all the lovely birdsong you can hear. However it was useful to take my dog to first and last thing for him to have a wee.
Will definitely be booking again sometime in the future.

Sarah Bartlett,

Yet again we are drawn back to Gill’s cottage because it is so wonderful as is Gill, such a lovely and attentive host. The cottage is perfect as is the location and ideal for us as we love Dartmoor and the surrounding area. South zeal is a very quiet village great if you just want peace and quiet. We will be back. Xx

Frances,

Just returned from a lovely 3 night stay at Daffodil Cottage with my mum and my six dogs and would highly recommend it. The cottage is wonderfully presented, cosy and the perfect base for exploring Dartmoor. It’s very dog friendly with the log burner being a huge bonus for our Frenchie who didn’t want to move from it ! Gill has been a wonderful host, recommending lots of lovely walks and things to see in the area and we would definitely like to visit again.

Lauren,

Had a fantastic time night stay at the cottage, it was beautifully presented and had all you need for a relaxing stay, the dog absolutely loved it too and gill was a fantastic owner/host will defo look to return again

Natalie Lewis ,

Great little 3 night birthday treat stay at Daffodil Cottage for husband and I and our 2 dogs. Very pretty little village with welcoming pubs.

Cottage was so cosy, we loved getting home after wintery walks, lighting the log fire and relaxing for the evening. We have a reactive dog so we'd visit the nearby farm shop Farmer Luxton's (dog friendly with a cafe) and pick up some amazing local produce for dinner (over dinner at the pubs).

Garden was great, too cold to sit out but a lovely space for the dogs to safely play.

Gill is a fantastic host, very welcoming and knowledgeable - I'm glad we stayed around long enough to meet in person although Gill was super welcoming and helpful by text for anything we needed.

It's a lovely base for any Dartmoor stay 😊

Andrea Tyrson,

What a delight Daffodil Cottage is. Lovely and spacious, very cosy and clean. We found the cottage on a dog friendly holidays group on Facebook and would definitely recommend it to anyone. Gill is an absolutely fabulous host without being at all intrusive, incredibly helpful, welcoming and friendly. We had a lovely basket of welcome goodies which were very much appreciated and the the wood burner is amazing. The garden is very well equipped and had it not poured with rain for most of our stay I’m sure we would have enjoyed sitting & relaxing there. I can see that it would be lovely when the weather is nice & it’s 100% safe for dogs. As the purpose of our visit to Devon on this occasion was to visit family over a long weekend, we were unable to explore Dartmoor but would love to return to enable us to do that.

Lisa Davies,

Daffodil Cottage is an absolute gem. Beautifully decorated with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing holiday. Our 2 dogs settled in very quickly, the garden was a lovely place for them. The cottage is in a lovely friendly village with 2 dog friendly pubs serving great food and great walks straight from the door. Gill is an amazing host with loads local knowledge of where to visit. We can't wait to visit again and stay longer. Thank you Gill 😊

Sarah Beasley ,

Daffodil cottage is beautiful, in a great location. Gill is such a lovely host and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. We spent three nights over Christmas to visit family and managed to cook a Turkey crown roast dinner with all the trimmings as the kitchen is well equipped. The wood burner is a proper treat and kept us lovely and cosy… We will definitely be back soon.

Stacey,

What a fantastic holiday we had. We found Daffodil Cottage on a facebook site for holidays with dogs, and we were looking for somewhere comfortable with great walks from the doorstep, and others within a reasonable travel by road. We were completely thrilled by the cottage and its location. It is very welcoming and cosy, just perfect after a days exploring. The village is lovely and peaceful and the locals friendly. Gill is an incredible host. The cottage itself was pristine and all the extra surprises left for us was such a lovely touch just emphasising how much Gill goes above and beyond to ensure that the guests, both 2 legged and 4 legged have a great visit. The walks locally were superb, and we spent many hours exploring Dartmoor straight from the front door as it is only a short walk straight onto the moors. We will definitely be returning to this idyllic cottage with our 4 legged family. We were very sorry to have to leave after a wonderful week.

Michelle Critcher,

Just arrived in the UK and our first “escape to the country” was to Daffodil cottage. Absolutely wonderful weekend. Great house, full of comfort. We really enjoyed our stay and felt very welcome thanks to Gill. She is a five star host!
Very friendly village, great pub with excellent food where the dogs were welcome too. So much to see and explore. Stunning surroundings, perfect to walk, walk, walk. We’ll be back!
Ann, Martine and Peer/Orville/Pinot

An van der Bruggen,

Just returned home after a lovely week long stay at Daffodil Cottage. The cottage was beautifully clean and well equipped. The welcome basket of goodies was a very kind gesture and Gill was very helpful providing directions for lovely walks and being available to answer any questions we had. The location was perfect for exploring the area and we enjoyed some amazing walks with our dog Leo. Everyone we met was very friendly. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Daffodil Cottage!

Morag & Giles ,

We have just got home after spending a great 8 days at Daffodil cottage. It was a perfect base for exploring Dartmoor and we all loved the local walks. We ate at both the pubs in the village - it was such a treat to have two pubs in walking distance! We spent one day at the Eden project which despite the distance we would strongly recommend a visit. Gill was super helpful, answering any questions we had quickly and giving great directions to some lovely walks! We would definitely recommend a stay here!

Sarah,

What a fabulous find! This little cottage is perfect in every way. All you could possibly need is there and it is so cosy and comfortable. Gill is a wonderful host and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Gill, Ozzie and I had a lovely stay, it’s just sad we had to leave earlier than planned. We’ll be back!

Bonnie Conlin and Ozzie,

4th visit and re-booked - that says it all!! We just love Daffodil cottage, beautiful cottage in a great location and we love Gill too. Such a lovely host and goes above and beyond what she needs to do. Her hens lay great eggs too. See you soon Gill.

Frances,

We’ve just stayed at Gills lovely cottage. We were only there one night and booked last minute. Gill was fantastic at communication throughout and the cottage is a great space, clean tidy and with everything you need especially if bringing a dog/kids. The location is good with 2 walkable pubs both serving food and a takeaway service which was handy. Would highly recommend and return.

Paula Marsh,

Our family of 5 plus furbaby stayed in Gill’s cottage in August and found it to be a lovely base from which to explore. Gill was fab at communicating before and during our stay and gave us some great ideas for walks and swims nearby. The cottage has everything you could need and the welcome basket is a very kind touch. The garden was a lovely space for children and dog, bring fully enclosed and the village in itself was beautiful with some great pub choices. Would definitely recommend and stay again, thanks so much Gill.

Andrea,

Stayed at the cottage during the recent hot weather and have to say it was the best place to stay as the building kept us comfortable and cool. We had everything we needed and loved the garden area for our dog. We happened to be staying during the Dartmoor Festival in the village and found the village to be a warm and welcoming place. Both pubs serve great food and the local shop was also handy.

Gill was a fantastic host and we greatly appreciated the welcome basket. She was also able to share local walks and info. We would all be happy to stay again at Daffodil Cottage.

Claire Henderson ,

We've just had our 2nd visit to Daffodil Cottage. What can I say other than it was a pleasure to return, this time in Summer (although our last visit was October last year and the weather was kind!) It was lovely visiting again and the 3 boys (fur babies) settled in straight away. Gill is an amazing host and nothing is too much trouble.
The cottage is well equipped and you definitely feel at home here.
10/10 from us 🥰
Thanks once again Gill.
Lesley, Shaun, Dylan, Louis and Billy 🐕🦴🐕🦴🐕🦴

Lesley Williams,

Just had another wonderful short break at Daffodil with my 5 pups. I love this cottage. It has everything you could wish for - a modern fully equipped kitchen that comes with welcome goodies of scones, clotted cream, milk and free range eggs from Gill's own hens. The cottage is warm and comfortable with many retained original features, and the private secure garden is a delight.
Hope to be back again soon. Thank you Gill.

David,

Just had a super 5 day stay at the cottage with my husband & 2 dogs. We were lucky with fabulous weather & enjoyed the private garden. It’s so quiet & peaceful. Thanks to Gill for sharing her knowledge of places to visit to suit our elderly dogs. Cottage is well equipped & very comfortable. The extras - cream tea & fresh eggs & dog biscuits much appreciated. Highly recommend this cottage.

Sara Watts,

My husband, our five dogs and I, have just had a lovely 5 day break at Daffodil Cottage. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The cottage is lovely and cosy, and the private garden, which is just a few steps away, is large and our dogs loved it. It also has a BBQ, patio table and chairs and parasol. Most importantly, the garden has 6' fences all the way round it and is gated. Daffodil Cottage guests have exclusive use of the garden. Everything you need to chill out and enjoy the sunshine. Gill is very helpful in suggesting walks, places to visit, to eat, etc., and the two dog-friendly pubs in the village serve lovely food and big portions too!

Isobel Smith,

We have just spent a week at Daffodil Cottage with our 2 dogs. From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable here. The lovely welcome gifts were much appreciated and the cosy lounge with the wood burner was perfect.
Ideal location for some great walks. Will definitely be back in the future.
Many thanks.

Anna and Justin Lloyd-Cowden,

We recently stayed at Daffodil Cottage for 5 nights and had a lovely time. It's a lovely, cosy cottage, plenty of room for the 5 of us and a dog. The garden is a great little space for some off-lead time and chilling out in the sunshine. The cottage is well stocked with everything you need for your stay and lovely walks straight out the door. Gill is friendly and really helpful with advice on where to go for walks or where to buy a decent pizza. I fully recommend Daffodil Cottage and hope to be back!

Rosie Michell,

Third time and still as lovely as the first time. Daffodil Cottage is so warm and welcoming, and Gill is a lovely host. Cottage is wonderfully equipped and the village of South Zeal is a great base.for exploring Dartmoor and beyond. The Garden now has a lovely seating area, with a great view of Cosdon Hill even better with a glass of wine! See you soon Gill and thanks as always.

Frances,

Myself and my pups have just had another lovely short break at Daffodil Cottage. The cottage is warm and cosy with every modern convenience you could ask for. The kitchen is fully equipped and on arrival there is a lovely selection of welcome goodies - fresh free range eggs from Gill's own hens, scones, clotted cream and milk in the fridge. There are lots of walks in the stunning Devon countryside literally right from the cottage front door. I love Daffodil Cottage and I've already got my next booking done! Thanks Gill for letting us stay at your lovely cottage.

David,

Myself, partner and two dogs have just enjoyed a wonderful stay at Daffodil Cottage. The cottage is cosy, spotlessly clean and very well equipped and I particularly liked the handmade furniture! We received a really lovely basket of goodies, milk in the fridge and logs for the fire. On top of all this, Gill was so helpful and suggested some great walks that we throughly enjoyed. Thank you Gill x

Tara,

We had a lovely 6 day break at Daffodil. This is the 3rd time we have stayed there. I just love it. I'd stay there every weekend if I could! The cottage is a perfect comfortable base to explore the surrounding beautiful Devon countryside. The kitchen comes with a most welcome array of goodies including clotted cream, milk, chocolate brioches, and fresh free range blue eggs from Gill's own hens. The lounge is just the perfect cottage lounge with exposed beams, a log burner and a stunning lobby door with stained glass panels. The cottage is on the very edge of the village with country walks literally right from the front door. Only a hundred metres away is the village store and village pub. Daffodil is my favourite 'go to' cottage and I can't wait to stay there again.

David,

This is the second time we have booked the Cottage for family outside of Devon to visit us. Nothing is too much trouble for Gill. The Cottage is very well equipped with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. The beds are comfy, as is the living space, and the basket of goodies is very much appreciated. You feel at home as soon as you step through the door. There will definitely be further bookings in the near future. Thank you Gill.

Debbie Cope,

We stayed for 3 nights visiting friends in Sticklepath. What a lovely Devon cottage, with all that you need & more. A most welcome hamper & fridge items awaiting us.
The village & surrounding area had all that you need, also views & walks were amazing ! Easy access to other areas . we will return ! Thankyou Gill !

Very much felt like home as soon as we stepped foot inside. Gill, you are a diamond with everything you do. Such a thoughtful lady and has thought of everything in the cottage. We had an amazing 3 nights at the cottage, and will be booking again for sure.
Thank you so much Gill. 💓

Lesley, Shaun and the fur babies, Dylan, Louis and Billy,

Another wonderful break at Daffodil Cottage, and the time has gone so fast. The warm and cosy cottage is such a delight, with loads of charm and true cottage character, yet has all the modern comforts to make your stay most enjoyable. Nestled in the beautiful little village of South Zeal right on the edge of Dartmoor, you actually don't need to drive to find beautiful walks, they are right here on your doorstep from the cottage. I can't wait to be back again in a few weeks. Huge thank you to Gill for letting us stay in Daffodil.

David,

Our second stay and another one booked, we can’t get enough of Daffodil Cottage and the area. The cottage and the area is glorious, Gill is an absolute gem and goes above and beyond what you expect. South Zeal is a lovely village, quiet but close to North and South Devon. Great location If you like walking, Cosdon Hill is right on your doorstep. You won’t be disappointed if you book.

frances,

We have just spent a week at this beautiful cottage. It’s clean, well equipped and very comfortable. We done some lovely days out and were blessed with good weather. Gill was a great host and we hope to return next year x

Joanne Hartness ,

Just spent 1 night in Daffodil Cottage, (wish it were more) Gill helped us out when we took our son to university. Excellent communication from availability to check out. Cottage was spotless and very comfortable. We loved the welcome parcel, the eggs were delicious! Hopefully we can return and spend a little longer to fully explore this beautiful part of the country.

Tina Carrington,

Arrived on Bank Holiday Monday for a 5 night stay, we were greeted with a basket of goodies , essentials in the fridge and treats for the dog. We headed straight for the secret garden for a BBQ, drinks and a few games of swing-ball.
The cottage was cosy with plenty of space, it was very welcoming, we particularly liked the original features. The kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom clean. Loved the bespoke beds which were very comfortable.
The cottage location is well positioned to explore all that Devon & Cornwall have to offer, we particularly enjoyed Port Isaac and Tintagel. The local people/pubs are very welcoming and we certainly enjoyed the food and drink they had to offer. Will certainly be returning, thanks Gill xx

Carly Burton,

Just returned from a wonderful 8 night stay at the delightful ‘Daffodil Cottage’ and already trying to plan when we can return.
The cottage is beautiful; modern decor compliment the original features of the cottage and the enclosed secret garden make it an enchanting place to stay for our family of 6 (2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 dogs!), with enough space and all the facilities you need for a home from home break.
The cottage is perfectly positioned to enable a range of activities from surfing in Bude, Coasteering in Croyde, paddle boarding in Torquay, and sea swimming in Exmouth. And that’s without even mentioning the moors that are just on your doorstep, with our favourite activity being open water swimming on top of the moors with our children and dogs!! The scenery and landscape is simply breathtaking up there and the benefit of Gills local knowledge enabled us to park close to the water so our elderly dog didn’t have to stroll too far!!
Gill is a fabulous host, with a wealth of knowledge to help you make the most of your stay. The village had everything we needed, 2 dog friendly pubs and a village shop, what more could you ask for!!

Jo ,

The cottage was beautiful, set in the lovely village of South Zeal. It was perfect for the 4 of us and we had all we needed for a home from home stay. Gill was a brilliant host who answered any questions quickly, the welcome pack was greatly appreciated by us all! We had a great time on Dartmoor exploring different towns and local walks. We hope to visit again soon! 😊

Sarah,

Wow! I arrived on Sunday afternoon for a 5 night break at Daffodil Cottage, and the time absolutely flew by. The cottage is full of authentic original features combined with all the modern conveniences. I loved the old beams and the original fireplace and beautiful old door with stained glass in the lounge. The kitchen has everything you need, including a most delightful welcome pack of fresh milk, fresh free range eggs from Gill's own hens, and scones and clotted cream. The secret garden just along the gravel path is an absolute delight. The village of South Zeal is really lovely, and the open moors of Dartmoor are only a few minutes drive from the cottage. I can't wait to go back to Daffodil in September for more moth trapping! One of the very best cottages I have ever stayed in. Thank you Gill.

David ,

A wonderful mini break in a lovely cottage, immaculate and with a perfect enclosed garden in a village. We arrived to fresh eggs, milk and scones which went down a treat. A short distance from Dartmoor with stunning beauty and a lovely stream. Gill is a wonderful host who recommended some lovely walks. We are looking to see when we can return and would highly recommend.

Julie ,

We have just had a fantastic weekend staying at Daffodil Cottage.
Such a lovely little house and in such a brilliant spot.
So easy to find and get to and in such a convenient location. We are avid hikers and didn’t have to use the car all weekend. We explored the moors and went wild swimming.
Gill was a fab host and really helpful with directions. The cottage was clean and so pretty. We really liked the little dog friendly touches too. Made us feel very comfortable!
Highly recommend

Abby, Caroline, Doug and Ruby,

We had to leave a fantastic review for Dafodil cottage and the owners of the cottage. Gill went completely out of her way to make sure me and my family (+dog) had a lovely place to stay to visit family. The scheduling/payment and full transaction was a pleasure to deal with Gill.

The cottage is amazing and authentic to the original design with some lovely modern touches. We were presented with a very clean and spacecious cottage and a cream tea to start our holiday off. We made full use of the log fire and the owner keep you stocked up with wood throughout your stay. The garden is a fantastic enclosed space and very private with a great view of the edge of Dartmoor.

This is a great base to get to all the attractions Devon has to offer and there are some lovely walks right on the doorstep. Our family had such a lovely stay and we definately recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay in Devon.

A very well run holiday let.

Thankyou so much from all of us

Jay,

What a lovely little cottage! Ideally located, especially to local amenities and Dartmoor. The cottage itself is very warm, spotlessly clean and well-stocked. Gill has thought of everything! The perfect getaway whether you are a dog owner or not, interested in the outdoors or not-the cottage and located are suited for anyone.

Nicole Morrison,

We had a lovely stay in this cosy, warm and spotlessly clean cottage. Loved the wood burner and secret garden. Excellent WiFi & streaming channels on the TV.
Gill is a good and attentive host. She answered any queries immediately and was full of tips and advice.

Stephen Cowles,

Jo powell,

Lovely cottage for a three nights away with our 3 titchy dogs. The cottage is presented beautifully with just about everything thought of, from milk in the fridge, to a hairdryer in the drawer. We also found games, and could get Netflix etc and carry on with our fave series. The wifi was great - I had two important work assignments, and connected just fine, no stress. Loved the woodstove above everything. Easy to use, really made us feel cosy during the wetter parts of our break. Comfy bedroom, modern clean bathroom. The whole stay was ideal. Recommended

JJ James,

Loved my long weekend break here, the cottage is very well presented, clean, tidy, and has all the mod-cons. So many times, I have stayed somewhere and the pictures are nothing like reality, but this cottage proved the opposite, the pictures don't do the cottage justice, it's a lovely place to stay, in a fab village in Dartmoor. The walks are great, the locals are friendly, the food at the Oxenham Arms is amazing (as are the owners, we were made to feel extremely welcome, and felt like part of the community).
Thank you Gill for being a great host, we will be back :o)

Mrs Beverly A Goldsworthy,

We LOVED our week at Gill’s lovely cottage. She is a great host - helpful with hints, tips, suggestions and directions. We were with our 4 month puppy on our first vacation with her. Walks from the door and within a short drive are lovely. It’s a less populated part of the moor so the feeling is more ‘local’. There are two ‘locals’ in the village and we particularly liked the Oxenham Arms which has a fab garden. The cottage’s hidden garden is lovely and a great place for sundowners. Inside the cottage is cosy and charming. Comfortable beds, great water pressure, a lovely welcoming selection of goodies and an informative local guide. What’s not to like? Thanks Gill. We will be back very soon.

Tomoko & Mike,

Gill was a wonderful host, the cottage lovely and clean, well decorated and looked after.
Excellent central location to visit other areas and the Moor on the doorstep.
As a family of 4 plus golden retriever the cottage had all we could ask for and the fresh eggs were a nice surprise on arrival. We used the wood burner every day even in August.
Gill was great at giving us advice on places to go and walks that might be good with out young(ish) children.
We would certainly recommend this cosy cottage and we’ll be back!

Craig Day,

We've tried all sorts of holidays previously, especially ones more geared too younger children..so we did not know what too expect... l can honestly say as a family we thoroughly enjoyed our selves...the cottage felt like home from home, very cosy and clean. Decor is very upto date, being very in syle and sympathetic to the age of the cottage, very well done...The cottage is very central too lots of activities, park, restaurants and pubs etc..especially if u like scenic walks or a swim in the open pools on Dartmoor....fantastic times and memories...Gill who owns the cottage couldn't be more welcoming and helpul, on arrival we where treated to fresh bread, milk, butter, eggs etc.....Our children didn't want to come home.....this is definitely a holiday for all the family....cant wait to go back again!!!!! ....I will give Gill and her delightful cottage 10 out of 10....thankyou...
